Return shipping on international orders is never free, no matter which option you choose. What you pay is either postage to a courier of your choice, or a label fee deducted from your refund.
Express vs Standard
Express Prepaid Label
If you select this option, you'll be provided with a prepaid DHL shipping label. The cost of this label is deducted from your final refund amount rather than charged upfront. In exchange, your package ships with tracking and coverage for the full value of your order, and you won't need to source your own shipping or compare carriers. Just print the label and drop your package off. This is the more convenient choice if you'd prefer a straightforward return process handled for you.
Self-Postage Option
If you'd rather handle postage yourself, you're responsible for covering the cost of shipping your package back to our warehouse. There's no fee charged by us for this option. The amount you pay is whatever your chosen carrier charges you directly, not something we collect. This route gives you the flexibility to select your own carrier and shipping method, and you may find a more budget-friendly rate than the prepaid label. Keep in mind that tracking and insurance on the shipment are your responsibility with this option.
How the cost is calculated
Return shipping is set by the carrier based on where your package ships from, and with the size and weight of what you're sending back, rather than being a flat fee or a percentage of your order. We are not able to quote an exact cost in advance for a specific return. Whatever you see in the returns portal, or whatever your local courier quotes you on Standard, is the real figure for your package.
Why isn't international return shipping free?
Covering return shipping is standard practice across most retail, and it exists to limit the return abuse that drives costs up for every customer. International orders add customs complexity on top of that, which is part of why we don't offer a free option the way some domestic returns can qualify for. Express exists specifically to make the process simpler even though it isn't free, since it removes the guesswork of finding and paying a courier yourself.
Starting an international return
Start at nvgtn.com/international-returns. Items must be unworn, unwashed, and have their original tags attached, and returns must be started within 45 days of delivery.
Full details, including how to switch from Standard to Express after starting a return, are in our International Return Policy article.
If your item arrived damaged, defective, or not as described, this cost breakdown does not apply. Contact us directly and we'll take care of it under our defect policy instead.
Here's a quick guide on how to check the return shipping cost:
- Enter Your Order Information: Input your order number and the email address associated with your order to begin the return process.
- Select the Items to Return: After entering your order information, choose the item(s) you wish to return.
- Review Return Shipping Cost: Upon selecting your item(s) for return, you'll proceed to Step 3, where the return shipping cost will be presented to you. This is where you can see how much it will cost to return your item(s) with a prepaid label based on your specific situation.
Remember, the final cost is influenced by where you're shipping from and the package's weight. You will have the option to choose between an Express prepaid label or a self-postage option.
